Situated in northern NSW and bounding the Queensland border, Tenterfield Shire Council services an area of approximately 7,333 square kilometres, from Urbenville in the north to Torrington in the south and from Drake in the east to Mingoola in the west. Centred around the town of Tenterfield, the shire has a population of approximately 6,638, and while predominately rural, there are a number of small population centres.
