Rabbit Trap

4th January 2022

It takes less than one rabbit per hectare to prevent the successful regeneration of many of our common native trees and shrubs.  This means that many rabbit-infested patches of remnant native vegetation can't sustain themselves naturally and are therefore in slow decline - but unfortunately this often goes unnoticed.

  • Rabbit Traps are available from our office.  These are free to borrow for 4 weeks if they are returned on time, clean and in good order, otherwise a $50.00 fee will be charged.

We also have available copies of - Rabbits: A threat to conversation & natural resource management - Whether you are a land-owner who conserves some uncleared woodland on your farm or belong to a Landcare group managing vegetation along a road side, this quick assessment method will help you decide if rabbits are a problem and what action you need to take.
