Granite Belt Eco Group
Granite Belt Eco Group (GBEG) is a subgroup of Granite Borders Landcare Committee Inc. (GBLC).
GBEG runs the Stanthorpe Eco Expo each year and operates a local gardening group in Stanthorpe. It also hosts occasional field days around the local area. Stanthorpe Eco Expo is an annual event, successfully delivering five enthusiastic field days of sustainable living and promoting local organic and regenerative businesses in the Granite Belt. Participation ranged between 250 - 550 visitors. Past events can be viewed at their website, www.stanthorpeecoexpo.com.au
The gardening group has worked on a project with Southern Downs Regional Council, restoring gardens in Kilpa Street Park adjacent to Quart Pot Creek in Stanthorpe.
GBEG also ran a field day in April on Blacksmithing, showcasing this artisan craft and for tool repairs which attracted over 70 people.
The group organised 5 successive years of Stanthorpe Eco Expo, but have now become INACTIVE, electing instead to re-form the Border Landcare Organic Group (BLOG).
