Management of Cats Claw Creeper (Macfadyena unguis-cati) in the Drake/Rocky River Area

1st Jun - 31st Dec 2022

($150,000)

This project received grant funding from the Australian Government’s investment in bushfire recovery for wildlife and their habitat.  Funding was used to carry out weed management control work and support landholders along a 6km stretch of Long Creek in the Drake/Rocky River area. This area was heavily impacted by bushfire in September 2019 and was the site of one of the first major bushfires that season. The focus of this project will be management of the invasive and introduced weed; Cat’s Claw Creeper (Macfadyena unguis-cati).  The funds will be used to secure an experienced contractor experienced in treating weeds along the sensitive riparian environment of Long Creek. Treating and removing the vines will allow the recovery of the native vegetation in the ground, mid and upper strata.
