Fire Awareness and Preparedness Workshop | Friday, 29 September 2023 | 10am - 2pm

29th Sep 2023

Granite Borders Landcare Committee are bringing together NSW Rural Fire Service and National Parks and Wildlife Service to present a Fire Awareness and Preparedness Workshop for landholders and residents of Tenterfield.

Speakers will include Brian McDonough (NSW RFS) and Michael Lieberman (NPWS).

The workshop will cover information on the role, scope of operations and services provided by the Rural Fire Service of NSW; as well as information for on landholder fire fighting equipment, asset protection measures, brigade locations, fire threats; permits for burns and communications before and during fire events.

NPWS will also offer information on fire management regimes, hazard reductions; and cooperative burn processes and obligations for properties bordering NPWS lands. Or speakers will also discuss how RFS and NPWS cooperate in fires in terms of lead, escalations and what that means on the ground.

This is a timely workshop and a great opportunity to come and meet the people who dedicate their time and risk their lives to protect us all. This can be a hot topic and we ask that participants come with respect and an intention to learn and work together.

The day will be held on the 29th of September, between 10am - 2pm.

Location: the Tenterfield Fire Control Centre at 3 Francis Street, Tenterfield.

A light lunch will be organised by Granite Borders Landcare Committee.

Registration is easy:

This workshop is jointly funded by the Commonwealth and NSW Government under the Disaster Recovery Funding arrangements.
