New Soil Moisture Monitoring Network - Supporting Farmers Across the Region

11th November 2026

GLENRAC’s new Farming Forecaster now has 5 operational monitoring sites across the New England region, providing farmers with valuable local data to support grazing, pasture management and seasonal planning.

Located at Emmaville, Deepwater, Glen Innes, Glencoe and Oakwood near Inverell, these sites collect soil moisture readings, rainfall data and pasture growth helping farmers make more informed management decisions.

The information is freely accessible through the Farming Forecaster online dashboard, with benefits extending to all farmers across the region, not just those hosting monitoring stations.

Want to know more, well GLENRAC is hosting a FREE farmer training session on 11 November (10am – 12.30pm) at the Glen Innes Showground Tearooms.  During this session, attendees will learn how to interpret the data and apply it to their farming operations.

RSVPs essential: Contact GLENRAC on 02 6732 3443 or email eliza.james@glenrac.org.au.

The project is supported by the NSW Government through the Landcare Enabling Program Phase 3 - Innovations and Partnerships Grant Program.
