New England Regent Honeyeater Roadshow

Join us on the third stop in the New England Regent Honeyeater Roadshow.  Here we will learn about the critically endangered Regent Honeyeater and what is being done on a national level to conserve them including the 2021 captive bred release and targeted Noisy Miner control in the Regent's key breeding areas. 

This 'FREE' field day will start with a morning bird identification walk commencing at 8:15am and starting from our meeting point; the Sunnyside Community Hall.  Returning to the Hall at approximately 9:30am we will enjoy a hot cuppa and some morning tea followed by presentations from three expert speakers:

1. Dr Stephen Debus, Ornithologist, University of New England 

Topic - Overview of the National Regent Honey Eater Recovery Program.

2. Dr Ahmad Barati, Zoologist, Postdoctoral Research Fellow, University of New England

Topic - Woodland bird diversity on TSRs on the Northern Tablelands: current populations, trends and potential threats. 

3. Candice Larkin, NSW Woodland Birds Project Officer, Birdlife Australia 

Topic - Regent Honeyeaters and the 2021 captive bred release (details and update)
