Starting at 2:00pm and finishing around 4:00pm...
This is a MUST HAVE SKILL for ALL LAND CARERS. We will learn:
- How to identify exotic versus native weeds
- Different weed identification techniques
- How these weeds might impact on our native flora & fauna and even our primary producers
- The identification of ‘typical’ and readily found weeds in our region (and what are our priorities….)
- Best practice methods of control: how to control ‘identified’ weeds safely & effectively and what permits are required
- Discussion on essential tools for the ‘shed’
- Useful techniques including monitoring & resources that are available locally and online

A little about our speakers:
Professor Brian Sindel (BScAgr (Hons), DipEd (Dist), PhD (USyd)
Currently Professor of Weed Science , Weed science - School of Environmental and Rural Science (UNE)
- Researcher studying the ecology and control over a variety of weed species including - fireweed, serrated tussock, Chilean Needle Grass and many others.
- Research Supervisor - 25 years +
- Primary research areas include pasture weeds, weeds of vegetables and antarctic weeds
