Could your garden become a Bug Space?
Whether you have a sprawling country garden, a veggie patch or simply love seeing bees, butterflies and other beneficial insects among your plants, the BugSpace Gardeners Network has something interesting to offer.
The network officially launches at 6pm on Thursday, 27 August at the Stanthorpe Civic Centre, with a free “Bug's Night Out” double feature.
Dr Anthony Rice will present “The Insect Apocalypse: What is it and How Can We Fix it?”, followed by an introduction to the BugSpace Gardeners Network, practical tips for creating your own BugSpace and an opportunity to sign up and join.
Registration for the gardeners' network is free. Participants can also purchase a $5 garden sign, featuring artwork by local artist Teri Welles, to help raise awareness of the project and the plight of pollinators and other invertebrates.
The event is free, but RSVPs are requested for catering purposes.
