Fladbury Landcare
Formed in 1999
Incorporating landholders east of Emmaville, approximately 80km south west of Tenterfield NSW.
Addressing loss of native vegetation and biodiversity in the Fladbury area and associated issues of habitat loss, rising watertable and increased soil loss.
Main Activities: Dryland salinity; Erosion control; Revegetation; Stream bank stabilisation.
Tree Corridors & Riparian Zone Improvement
Over 15 000 native trees and shrubs have been planted in the Fladbury area to help address the loss of biodiversity in the area due to past clearing and eucalypt dieback. Corridors have been planted to link previous plantings and existing vegetation.
Stock access has been managed to encourage regeneration of native trees, shrubs and grasses and to reduce tracking and bank erosion. By improving the riparian zone reduced quantities of sediments and nutrients enter the Severn River and will improve water quality downstream.
